Five small habits that make a big difference

Good work rarely comes from one big moment. It comes from a handful of small things done well, every day.

When people ask us how we keep projects calm and on time, the honest answer is not very exciting. We just keep a few simple habits, and we keep them every single time.

The habits

  1. Write the goal down in one sentence before starting.
  2. Answer messages the same day, even if the answer is "not yet".
  3. Finish one thing before starting the next.
  4. Check the work with fresh eyes the next morning.
  5. Say thank you, and mean it.

Why they work

None of these take long. Together they remove most of the small delays and misunderstandings that turn a simple job into a stressful one. They also make it easy for the people we work with to trust us, because they always know where things stand.
